NBC scored big points with the special Saturday Night Live broadcast on Sunday.  Over 23.1 million viewers SNLjosephgordonlevitttuned in between 8 and 11:30pm giving them a 14.2 household rating and a 7.8 rating among adults 18-49. The special brought back some of the legends from the show's past: Eddie Murphy, Jane Curtin, Tina Fey, and may more.

The NBA All-Star Game that aired on TNT and TBS, facing such stiff competition still pulled a 5.5 rating, according to Nielsen, up 12% from last year's game.

NBC execs released a statement saying this is the network’s most-watched prime-time entertainment telecast ( excluding Super Bowl coverage) in more than 10 years.  The SNL special is the top-rated non-sports entertainment telecast on any network since an episode of Fox’s American Idol three years ago.

Twitter users were active.  1.3 million tweets about the special were tweeted, making the special the show with the highest number of Twitter TV impressions of any series episode to date, as measured by Nielsen Social.
